Description: Hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin, also known as Hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin; THPB; HP-beta-CD; HPbCD; HP-beta-CyD; VTS-270; HPbetaCD; HPbetaCyD, is a drug candidate potentially for the treatment of Niemann-Pick type C diseases. In April 2009, hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HPbCD) was first approved.

More Info: (2-Hydroxypropyl)-beta-cyclodextrin is cyclic polysaccharide comprised of 7 glucopyranose units. This ingredient appears as a solid and functions as a chelating agent. Cyclodextrins are able to form host-guest complexes with hydrophobic molecules and are used in the production cholesterol free products. Beta-cyclodextrin complexes with certain carotenoid food colorants have been shown to intensify color, increase water solubility and improve light stability.
